Instead, I've been either busy or tired with all things that happened to our little family and to myself for the last several months.
The garments feel luxurious and get worn a lot (including just to sleep!) and the time involved is reasonable.
Whether that was related to the walking foot or the thread, I dont know.
Process, i bought 2 yards of the stretch velvet and this pattern only needed one, so I didnt worry about making a toile because there was sufficient fabric for two versions. For future samples I will also skip shortening the skirt and remove only 1 of the sleeve length. The thread was easy to work with except when stitching too fast with the walking foot when it broke a couple of times.I have entered other contests. This dress is my first version of our latest pattern release, the.My mind went in a couple of different directions, but after I google image searched some Beyonce red carpet images, shopped my stash and considered my short time frame I had a plan.Thats the beauty of stretch fabric, you can work with negative ease to make things fit. Then I didnt really think I would make it to Round 2, so I didnt write this up after.I tried my best, but I think the daughter should be acknowledged as a great help to my success in the contest. That means, I made four sets of garments/outfits with certain themes given by the contest committee for each round.I used our bias slip dress pattern to create a lingerie style slip.
Fabric, pencil skirts arent my thing (I like A-line) so I wasnt about to spend money on a fine fabric for this skirt, plus I was playing nursemaid to my husband and couldnt take hours and hours to scout out fabric.
Conclusion, i really like the basic skirt pattern and will definitely use it again.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
